Weekly Ranch Roundup: Harvests, Cleanups & Old Friends
There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of seeing months of hard work culminate in a healthy, vibrant crop.
Some days on the farm reaffirm why we chose this path—why we made the decision to purchase our family ranch from the estate, why we dedicate ourselves to sustainable agriculture, and why we feel so deeply connected to this land. Our recent photo shoot with Sunkist was one of those days. It was an incredible opportunity to showcase what makes Rancho Dos Hermanas (R2H) special—our commitment to environmental sustainability, our deep-rooted love for the land and nature, and, of course, our delicious Navel and Valencia oranges.
As proud Sunkist growers, we take immense pride in producing some of California’s finest citrus. Seeing our orchards through the lens of the Sunkist team was both humbling and inspiring. This experience truly brought us back to our roots and reminded us why we embarked on this journey at this stage in our lives. From the golden morning light streaming through the trees to the vibrant hues of sun-ripened fruit, every shot captured the beauty and effort behind our harvest.
But this shoot wasn’t just about creating stunning visuals—it was about telling a story. A story of heritage, sustainability, and dedication to growing food in harmony with nature. Our family has been farming this land for generations, and through Rancho Dos Hermanas, we are carrying on that legacy with a renewed commitment to environmental stewardship.
One of the most meaningful aspects of the day was sharing our vision—not just for our 40-acre farm, but for our entire 500-acre property. While we are still in the process of transitioning to organic farming, our goal is clear:
🌿 Soil health
💧 Water conservation
🐝 Biodiversity & ecosystem restoration
Sunkist shares our passion for responsible farming, and this interview and photo shoot gave us a chance to showcase the meaningful steps we’re taking to make sustainability a reality. We recognize that transitioning all of our crops to certified organic will take time, but we are committed to taking the necessary steps to get there. Sustainability is not just a buzzword here—it’s a mission, and every decision we make moves us closer to that goal.
Being part of the Sunkist family is more than just growing oranges—it’s about being part of a community of growers who share a passion for exceptional citrus. This partnership allows us to bring our fruit to people around the world while maintaining the quality, integrity, and sustainable values that define both Sunkist and Rancho Dos Hermanas.
This experience was a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do. We’re incredibly grateful to Sunkist for helping us share our farm’s story and for recognizing the passion and effort that goes into every harvest. We can’t wait to see the final photos and share them with all of you! In the meantime, we’ll be here—tending the trees, nurturing the land, and growing fruit with love and purpose.
Thank you for following our journey and supporting sustainable, family-run farming!
